Volunteer Opportunities

We have the following Age Restrictions for any volunteer under the age of 18:

Ages 14 and 15

  • Must be supervised on a 1:1 ratio
  • Must submit a release and waiver of liability for a minor signed by a parent/legal guardian prior to performing any volunteer activity
  • Must not be on-site during construction
  • Can paint, landscape, perform other light duties and help with site support
  • Must not work on/with excavation, demolition, power tools or at heights above 6 feet

​​Ages 16 and 17

  • Must be supervised on a 3 youths: 1 adult ratio
  • Must submit a release and waiver of liability for a minor signed by a parent/legal guardian prior to performing any volunteer activity
  • Can assist with general construction/carpentry
  • Must not work on/with excavation, demolition, or power tools
  • Must not work at heights above 6 feet or on the roof

Leadership on the job site: Volunteer/ Site Supervisor

House Construction & Repair:

  • Siding,
  • Gutters and down spouts,
  • Roofing,
  • Painting
  • Landscaping
  • Drywall
  • Carpentry
  • Cabinetry
  • Site prep/ clean-up
  • Window and doors
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Heating and cooling
  • Floor covering
  • Poured/ blocked basement
  • Concrete/flatwork

Construction Support: Errand runner, Assist in build site assessment and feasibility, Seek donations of building materials and tools, and Coordinate tool acquisition/ management program, lead or assist in a exterior repair project

"Friend Raising": Coordinate volunteer recognition activities, Schedule and recruit crew lunch providers, Coordinate job site welcoming, and Help recruit, schedule and follow-up with volunteers

Fundraising and Development: Plan/develop/administer fundraising activities and Develop and carry out donor recognition plan

Church Relations: Help coordinate church relations activities, coordinate church sponsorships of projects, Maintain regular contact with one ore more churches and Act as church liaison

Sleepy Eye, Springfield, Comfrey or other Brown County Community Committees:  Be a part of a group that brings our programming to your community! We're looking for interested individuals to help us fundraise and volunteer-raise in these communities so we can bring A Brush With Kindness to Greater Brown County!
